Grok for businesses: plans, pricing, and how to use it
What Grok Business and Enterprise include, how much the API costs, how it handles your data, and when Grok is a better fit than ChatGPT or Claude for your business.

Grok is no longer just the assistant inside X. Today, xAI, which presents its products under the SpaceXSI brand, offers plans for teams, an API with several models, and voice, image, and agent tools. For a business owner or executive in Mexico, the question is no longer whether Grok is available for businesses, but which plan they need, how much it costs, and what happens to their data.
This guide explains Grok for businesses using information from xAI’s official pages, reviewed in November 2026. Prices are in dollars, before taxes, and may change; confirm them before purchasing.

# What is Grok Business?
It’s Grok’s plan for small and midsize teams. It costs 30 dollars per user per month and is purchased through self-service in the xAI console, where the admin invites users, manages access, and views usage (xAI, Grok Business). According to the business plans page, it includes:
- Access to Grok 4.7, Imagine (image and video), and Voice.
- SOC 2 Type I and II compliance, role-based access control, and higher usage limits.
- No training on your company’s data.
- User and license management, consolidated billing, domain verification, and usage analytics.
- Configurable data retention, connectors, and advanced audit and security controls.
One useful detail: the Google Drive connector respects your existing Drive permissions. If a file isn’t shared with you, Grok won’t show it to you, and each response cites the source document with the relevant section highlighted (xAI) comes in.
# What does Grok Enterprise add?
Grok Enterprise is for large organizations or those with stricter security requirements. It has no public pricing and is purchased through xAI’s sales team. In addition to everything in Business, it adds the following (xAI):
| Feature | Business | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| Price | 30 USD per user per month | Pricing available upon request |
| No training on your data | Yes | Yes |
| SOC 2 Type I and II | Yes | Yes |
| Configurable connectors and retention | Yes | Yes |
| Custom single sign-on (SSO) | Not listed in the plan | Yes |
| User synchronization (SCIM) | Not listed in the plan | Yes |
| Custom access roles | Not listed in the plan | Yes |
| Dedicated onboarding and support | Not listed in the plan | Yes |
| Your own encryption keys and a dedicated data plane (Vault) | Not listed in the plan | Yes |
Enterprise Vault is the most restrictive option: your data is encrypted with keys you control and isolated from other customers and the consumer infrastructure (xAI). If your company already has a corporate directory and access policies, SSO and SCIM are often the practical reason to move to Enterprise.
# How much does the Grok API cost?
The API is billed based on usage, not per user. It’s the option when you want Grok to work within your systems: a chatbot, an automated workflow, an agent, or document analysis. Here are some prices published in the xAI model documentation:
| Model or service | Published price | What it’s for |
|---|---|---|
| Grok 4.7 | 2 USD per million input tokens and 6 USD per million output tokens (prompts under 200 thousand tokens) | The most capable model; chat, analysis, and code |
| Grok 4.3 | 1.25 USD per million input tokens and 2.50 USD per million output tokens (prompts under 200 thousand tokens) | High-volume tasks with context of up to 1 million tokens |
| Voice-to-voice (Grok Voice) | 0.08 USD per minute | Voice agents and phone support |
| Image (Grok Imagine Image) | Starting at 0.02 USD per image | Image generation |
Two details affect how an integration is designed. First, if the prompt reaches 200 thousand tokens, the entire request is billed at the higher rate. Second, the model doesn’t know about events that occurred after its training (Grok 4.7 was trained through May 2026) unless you enable web search or X search (xAI). If your use case depends on current information, those tools are part of the cost.
If you’re unsure whether to choose team licenses or an API integration, see AI platform or API integration for guidance on how to decide.
# What happens to your company’s data?
It’s the question that matters most in a corporate purchase, and the answer depends on the product:
- Grok Business and Enterprise: xAI states that it doesn’t train on your company’s data (xAI). In Enterprise, inputs and outputs are automatically deleted within 30 days, unless otherwise agreed in writing or xAI is required to retain them by law or because of a possible violation of its terms (Enterprise FAQ) comes in.
- API: xAI doesn’t train on your requests without your explicit permission. By default, it stores them encrypted for 30 days to audit abuse and then deletes them (xAI, API security) comes in.
- Zero data retention (ZDR): enabled for the entire team, it prevents prompts and responses from being stored, but disables features that rely on storing data, such as Files, Collections, Batch, and the stateful responses API. xAI doesn’t recommend it unless your compliance requirements demand it (xAI) comes in.
If you’re going to include customers’ or employees’ personal data, the following also applies: Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, published in the DOF on March 20, 2025. Your company remains responsible for that data even when a third-party tool processes it, so define what information can and cannot be entered into Grok. It helps to have a written generative AI use policy.
# What are good use cases for Grok in a business?
Grok stands out when real-time information or tool integration makes a difference. The use cases xAI presents for businesses, and the ones we see as most relevant in Mexico, are:
- Research and monitoring: market, competitor, and public discourse analysis using web and X search.
- Internal knowledge: answers with citations from Drive documents or a large document repository, using the Collections API. It’s the same principle we explain in RAG for executives.
- Connectors: xAI announces integration with Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Notion, and custom MCP servers to read and update records (xAI) comes in.
- Voice agents: answering frequently asked questions 24 hours a day with low latency, more than 25 voices, and handoff to a person when needed (xAI) comes in.
- Agents that perform tasks: xAI launched Grok Bot for Enterprise, which adds access, network, and audit controls to govern agents at scale (xAI) comes in.
- Documents and spreadsheets: presentations, reports, and Excel spreadsheets with formulas based on company data.
# Grok, ChatGPT, or Claude: which should you choose?
There’s no universal winner. The decision comes down to the specific work: which tools your team already uses, whether you need real-time information, how important voice is, and what security controls your IT department requires.
We recommend testing the candidates on the same real tasks your company handles and comparing quality, time saved, and cost per user. If you’re comparing the other two options, read Claude Team or ChatGPT Business.
# How can you implement Grok without wasting licenses?
The most common mistake is buying licenses for the whole company on day one. A safer approach:
- Choose one or two processes where Grok can save measurable time, such as sales research or customer responses.
- Define what data can and cannot be entered, and who approves the connectors.
- Start with Grok Business for a small group of frequent users and measure actual usage over a few weeks.
- If the use case involves an automated workflow, test it through the API with a capped usage budget.
- Scale based on usage, not organizational structure, and move to Enterprise only if you need SSO, SCIM, or data isolation.
